Happy 35th Birthday Danny...

We went to check out a vintage toys store. They had ALOT of Star Wars and Transformer stuff. Then we headed for the Dallas Zoo for Danny birthday. Had a nice time and it wasnt crowded...they have a great childrens area. Will keep that in mind for when the grandkids come again. Stopped at Johnny Carinos for early dinner.

30th Anniversary

This year was Wes turn to plan..and he did a GREAT JOB!!!! Our first stop was in Austin for a quilt show... on down the road a few hours later we had lunch and saw probably 12 hot air balloons flying...Our destination was a B & B outside Gruene TX. It was a stagecoach stop in the late 1800. We had a lovely log cabin room. Of course it had been modified for a bathroom with a deep jacuzzi tub.
Saturday night we went into the historic part of Greune and had dinner at the Grist Mill Restaurant. At 7 p.m. we were in line for for a band concert in the oldest dance hall in TX to see the Reckless Kelly Band. Concert started at 9 and us old folks finally went home around midnight.
Sunday we had breakfast at our B& B and the hostesses were very friendly and talkative. We went to Gruene Days which was a craft fair type open air market and walked around the different town shops til about noon. Wes had drove me around New Braunfels and also for me to check out this river for our tube float.
We went back to change and just go for it...it wasn't really crowded and little gray from the Mexico tropical storm. The water was a little cool...but do able since it was about 85 outside. We decided to tie the tubes with these thin nylon 3 ft strings...Off we go down this calm river...then comes shoot #1...ahmmm ok that wasn't too bad, I didn't fall off or drown. floating getting use to it and here is shoot #2..over these LARGE flat rocks...my tube had a bottom but Wes's was open..all I could think was well that's a great way to scrap those hemorrhoids...didn't die there either or fall off.... more floating looking at the house and resort along the river banks,, shoot #3 was a little wild and totally unexpected,,,all I saw was rapids and it turned me around and I was going thru it kinda backwards...Wes said it surprised him too but all he heard was me laughing and yelling,:) It was starting to spit rain off and on and by the time we got to the end I was cold so we decided to go get lunch and head back to the cabin. Good thing cause not half hour later it started to rain. I could do this again....it was fun.. Wes brings out the best in everything we do.
Ahh the tub was great too and had its own adventures...a Jacuzzi and bubbles LOL...
After we got warm and cleaned up we went out on the porch and read while listening to the rain on the tin roof... Had dinner at a Germany restaurant. Wonderful meal and even shared a piece of strudel. Back to the cabin and was in bed by 9:30...
Monday we had breakfast at the inn and talked with the Lady's...got things ready to go...headed back to gruene to see some more shops and then went down by the river for pictures..no one was there.. About noon we started back toward home and stopped at Rudy Bar B Q for lunch. Ran into more rain out by Hubbard...Got home about 4:30...
Man, how am I going to bet this one for next year???? Love ya, Hon...XO

People Let Me Tell About My Best Friend

Lynne came to Texas to visit me. I got her all to myself for 3 1/2 days...we didn't stop talking from sun up til we went to bed....Had a great time.
Wes and I took her to Carpenters for lunch. Had to stop in at the chocolate and pecan nut factories. Did give her the town tour but didn't get out to the lake on Friday.
Saturday was Girl's Day. I took her to Harvies, and there were like 4 ladies from church, all whom had heard about Linda and they all got to meet her. Then we went to Pack-n-Mail (Why?? cause they have such cute things and gourmet carmel popcorn, which is one of her favorite things)Then she wanted to see my Fabric shop..yes the one I said wasn't worth nothing..Well let me tell you, it sure has grown and has some nice things... We were suppose to meet Jackie earlier but as we went into town, we drove past her house but she wasn't home..so by chance as we were getting ready to go eat we swung back by Jackie's. Both love to talk and drink wine so they hit it right off. We ended up going out to eat like at 4:30 so we will call it an early dinner at the Italian Village Restaurant.... drove to my house so Jackie could see where I live and talked and visited some more and celebrated friendships with a bottle of Wilson Creek Almond Champagne...Jackies has a new love she says...took Jackie home and talked more and saw her cows. We didn't get back home til like 8:15....
Linda didn't like my spiders or going outside at night to look at the stars (nnoooo theres critters out her Pam! LOL) but she met Brooke, blackie and Jackie's cows...She likes my porch and rocking chairs in the mornings with a cup of coffee. Now she knows I'm in a good place and life here in Texas is OK. Only a few more months til we meet again.
