Happy Birthday Aunt Kathryn

We celebrated Aunt Kathryns 78 birthday by taking her to out to her favorite Mexican Restrauant. We went to Larry and Denise house afterwards for cake. Enjoyed the visit.

Baby sitting the Grand dogs is the best! They made my day. Aren't they cute!..
Lucy is the black one. She is like wild and crazy one, runs all over the place. Hanna is more refined and likes her tummy scratched. They loved their bones and their chew bones.

Cut in School Jobs

Well it seems that California is getting worse... We all know we dont have a state budget (yet) and now this week my school district, Pomona Unified, has approved and passed out pink slips to 645 certificated people. This effected 8 of our staff at my school. The PINK slips mean that there might not be a position available for them next year...Like you would sit around and wait and see...Some of our people have been there 10 years or more...and we lost 2 last year and 2 the year before because of the cuts.
What is the district thinking? I still say they are not being accountable for their spending,,, we certainly arent seeing money come down to our school.
Why not cancel the contracted out service type people first, bus services and cut some of the district higher up positions. What ever happened to giving what we call alluimiun hand shakes...if a person is willing to retire to safe a position...
And they say the classroom will all probably be combo and up to 35...You cant teacher effectively in those conditions...Our children education is being thrown out the window for the all might $.....

Nice Surprise Visits

Well the word is really out that I'm retiring because not one but 2 of my old former students came by the school today to say Hi.
First student, Jessica Alatorri. She was in our class for 3 years. 93-94, 94-95, and 95-96 before moving to high desert with her grandparents. She is 25 now, married and has 2 children. They live in Alhambra area and came all the way over to say Hi to me...
Then an hour later, another student, Ryan Lane came by. He was with Velane and I til about 1999. He is 21 yr old and an actor. He played in Cold Case about a deaf teen who gets a cocular inplant. He is currently working on a movie but I cant remember its name.
I am so pleased that they remember me and came back to visit.

Rain, rain, rain, rain,,,

Wow we need the rain. We've gotten 3 1/2 inches at my house and more to come this week. And there's snow on them mountains. I didnt have my camera with me this morning but it was BEAUTIFUL! Now its covered in dark clouds.
It was a busy weekend.
Lara and Jim came over Sat afternoon and Danny met us after work at Don Jose for Wes birthday dinner.
He got a red paintball shirt and gloves...Watch out boys,,,now he's ready to go play ...
Sunday afternoon Dad and I went to Bower Musuem to see the History of 200 years of Quilts. They showed very old quilts, mostly 1840 to early 1900. The storys were amazing. The colors and stitching were wonderful. I only hope my quilts would last 150 years.
Well its Monday and I have the day off work.. No one else does but me...What to do first??? Hmmm. go shopping, clean , start a project or just play on the computor...decisions decisions...Oh its raining and thundering so walking is out right now. LOL.

Happy Birthday to You.... the guys from work took Wes out for lunch at Hooters..He got his pictures taken and a calendar. I made him his favorite dinner; steak, bake pototoe, beets and salad, with warm oatmeal cookies for dessert and Brian called from AL. Tonight Lara, Jim and Danny are taking him out to dinner. So heres to another year older... love ya
